Achievement of the CPCE designation demonstrates expertise in catering and events and is earned by taking a comprehensive examination that covers the core competencies of the industry:

  • Accounting
  • Beverage Management
  • Catering Services and Operations
  • Contracts and Risk Management
  • Event Design and Execution
  • Human Resources and Administration
  • Sales and Marketing

The CPCE exam consists of 175 multiple-choice questions and must be completed in 2.5 hours. A score of 70% or higher is passing.

Led by industry thought leaders who guide you through the ins and outs of catering and event management, the CPCE Fast Track offerings are the best way to prepare you for the CPCE exam.

Consider the format that works best for your schedule:

  • The CPCE Fast Track Online offers one year of on-demand access to self-study materials including access to trainer-led videos covering each CPCE core competency and sample quizzes.
  • The CPCE Fast Track Live is offered at industry conferences including NACE’s Experience and at NACE Chapters.
  • The CPCE Fast Track and Virtual Study Group provides access to the CPCE Fast Track Online as well as 4 real-time online study sessions with a knowledgeable CPCE trainer and fellow candidates preparing for the CPCE exam. These sessions are recorded and provided on-demand as well. Study sessions are usually on weeknight evenings. 

      In addition to these resources, connect with your local NACE Chapter to inquire about study groups in formation and connect with CPCEs in your local area.

       

      Take the Exam

      After application approval, an online exam date may be scheduled for a time and place that works for both the candidate and the volunteer exam proctor.

      CPCE Exam fee: $295

      Candidates will pay the exam fee when they complete the exam scheduling form. Full details can be found in the Policy Manual.
