Online Community Rules and Etiquette

NACE’s online communities and groups are provided as a way for NACE members to engage in discussion and seek and receive ideas and resources from other members. Members may use these online groups to ask questions, seek guidance, share knowledge and celebrate creativity, innovation and success in various aspects of catering and events.

By using a NACE online community or group, you agree to follow the rules and etiquette set forth by NACE, in its sole discretion, to ensure the communities remain a beneficial resource for NACE members. Posts that do not follow community guidelines may be deleted and may also result in temporary or indefinite access restriction.

  • Post in the group that seems like the best fit and avoid cross-posting. Catering and event professionals wear many hats and there may be overlap between some groups. Post a question or a request for help in one group that seems most appropriate to the topic. NACE members may participate in multiple groups and posting the same request to multiple groups may not be effective.

  • Do not post commercial or advertising messages. If you believe you have a product or service that would benefit members, contact them directly using the virtual networking capabilities of NACE Net. NACE can also help you reach people with your message through our advertising and partnership opportunities.

  • Be thoughtful when using NACENet communities to raise money. We believe in the power of the catering and event community, and in our desire to support small businesses and make social impact. However, we ask that you refrain from fundraising messages for charitable causes outside of the catering and events industry and from messages to crowdfund a business.

  • Post jobs in the NACE Career Center. NACE’s online Career Center can help employers and job seekers connect and offers specialized job search and recruiting features not available in NACE Net communities.

  • Be thoughtful when discussing companies, products and services. Posts made in NACE Net communities and groups can be viewed by other members, and your statements are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.

  • Maintain a friendly environment free from personal attacks. Discussions on the community platforms are meant to stimulate conversation even when there are a variety of differing opinions.

  • Posts should be in keeping with NACE’s Code of Ethics. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will be removed. NACE is committed to fostering an open and welcoming environment respectful of all members regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibility, political affiliation, or disability.

  • Respect the copyright and intellectual property of others. Do not post any material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. This applies to written, visual (whether photography or illustration), spoken and audio content.

  • Members are expressly prohibited from posting any content that encourages or facilitates agreements leading to price fixing or other illegal restriction of free trade. Content is forbidden that encourages or facilitates any agreement on price-setting, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; allocation of markets, territories, or customers; or the exclusion of companies from an open marketplace.

  • NACE Net communities and groups are provided “as-is”. NACE is not responsible for the opinions and information posted by others. NACE disclaims all warranties regarding information posted in communities and groups, whether posted by NACE or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. In no event shall NACE be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site.

  • NACE reserves the right to restrict access by any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
