2023 AAPI Month Spotlight: Michelle Dunnick, CPCE, MBA

How long have you been a member of NACE? What drew you to NACE?
I have been a member of NACE since 2009.  My previous employer was involved and encouraged me to become involved. The welcoming atmosphere drew me to NACE!

What do you hope to see for the Asian community in events, in the coming years?
In the coming years, I hope to see more Asian event professionals share their creativity, customs, and cuisine with others!

How has NACE helped your career and business?
NACE has been a part of my entire professional career.  I cannot imagine my professional life without NACE.

What does AAPI Month mean to you?
AAPI Heritage Month gives a spotlight to the AAPI community.  To the successes but also the past struggles.

What Asian figure inspires you and why?
The K-Pop group BTS inspires me as they have elevated the Korean culture in the US, while promoting respect and understanding to everyone. 

What is one activity or dish from your Asian culture you think everybody should try? 
I cannot recommend only one Korean dish.  I recommend going to a Korean restaurant with a group of friends and ordering a bunch of dishes, so you can have a taste of everything!
