We challenge you to volunteer for a national committee to:

  • Contribute your ideas, creativity, and professional expertise.
  • Expand your professional network and have fun with other leaders, national board members, and national staff.
  • Attain valuable volunteer experience and leadership skills that can lead to professional growth.

What does it mean to serve on a national committee?

  • Actively participate in committee calls and provide thoughtful input on committee discussions and projects
  • Participate in follow-up activity between calls
  • Consider if you prefer to serve on a task-oriented committee or one that focuses on knowledge-sharing
  • Share your volunteer experience and mentor new volunteers

What Interests You Most?

Advocacy: Make recommendations to NACE leadership on advocacy awareness, education opportunities, and resources for members. Members of this committee will have a passion for monitoring regulatory and legislative issues with direct or indirect effects on catering and events and being a resource to local chapter leaders seeking advice and resources for local advocacy. This committee will meet quarterly for one hour and may require additional time in between meetings, depending on current events.

 

Black Caucus: The Black Caucus facilitates networking and the exchange of ideas among Black members of NACE. The Caucus provides recommendations to the NACE National Board to advance the Black Community within NACE. Members of this committee must be NACE members in good standing. This committee meets monthly for a one-hour call. For more information, click here.

 

Chapter Leaders’ Council (CLC): Mentor and support leaders of NACE chapters by joining this committee. This committee has a vital role in the development and support of chapter leaders and in connecting chapter leaders with the national organization. Members of this committee must have served as a NACE Chapter President. This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting and up to 4 hours of additional work each month on activities such as monthly check-ins with chapter presidents.

 

Diversity Equity and Inclusion Committee: Committee members will provide guidance and information to NACE leadership and staff on DEI opportunities that are beneficial to NACE members. Help NACE collect, create, and share information, education, and resources on DEI in the catering and events industry. Foster collaboration between and collect feedback from member-organized affinity groups. This committee requires one hour per month and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month.

 

Member Recognition: (previously Awards) Learn more about award-winning entries and hone your judging skills by serving on this committee. This committee contributes to the increased recognition of the innovation and creativity of catering and event professionals through the NACE One Awards program and identifies other approaches to recognize members and contributors. Work on this committee includes writing awards criteria, testing application systems, creating marketing plans, and recruiting judges. The committee also helps identify key trends and creative elements, and create content that educates and inspires catering and event professionals. This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting, and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month.

 

Membership Recruitment: (New this Year!) The Membership Recruitment Committee evaluates and provides guidance on initiatives to bring catering and event professionals into the NACE community and quickly connect them with the value of NACE membership. The committee works to identify key benefits of membership across the diverse segments and career stages NACE serves. The committee’s work will advance national efforts to provide segmented messaging and value propositions, coordinated onboarding communications, toolkits, and templates. Participating in this committee gives members an in-depth view of the membership process! This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting, and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month.

 

Membership Retention: (New this Year!) The Membership Retention Committee evaluates and provides guidance on initiatives to ensure members of the NACE community recognize, use, and value the programs, benefits, and connections available as a member. The committee focuses on member engagement to create strong relationships between members, the chapters, and the national organization. Coordinated programs that engage and retain first-year members are a key focus area. The committee’s work will advance national efforts to align renewal and engagement communications and processes between national and chapter organizations by recommending toolkits and templates. Participating in this committee gives members an in-depth view of the membership process! This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting, and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month.

 

Nominations and Elections: Join this committee to help NACE plan and execute the annual nominations and elections process while learning more about governance and elections. Members of this committee are representative of the NACE members on a broad level. They enjoy encouraging other members to volunteer, plan, and execute the national elections. This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month. Committee members must attend the Experience Conference to coordinate election activity on-site.

 

Professional Development: (previously Certification and Education) Expand your writing and professional development skills by participating with others who share the same passion for lifelong learning. This committee enjoys sharing ideas and knowledge about how to grow and develop the certification program and its policies and procedures. Learn more about developing a high-quality and diverse education program as well as how to identify topics and select top-notch speakers. Members of this committee have a direct impact on the NACE's national Experience conference education, online education programming, and webinars by brainstorming content ideas and themes and reviewing speaker proposals and presentations. This committee requires one hour per month for a meeting, and up to 2 hours of additional work outside of the committee each month, with 5 hours of work twice a year for review work.
