A La Carte NACE Blog
Fresh ideas and inspiration for your events.

Thankful for you!

Dear fellow NACE members,

It’s November, and as we go into the holiday season, it’s a tradition to look back at the year and give thanks. I want to share several things for which I’m thankful.

It has been an excellent year for NACE in so many areas.

Our staff has consistent leadership and direction, allowing them to do their jobs proficiently and create more benefits for both chapter leaders and members. We added additional resources for our chapter leadership, such as Chapter D&O Insurance, brand collateral, an image library, automatic membership rebate deposits, and more. Cathi Horner, CAE, Director, Chapter & Partner Relations for NACE, along with national board members, have visited multiple chapters to assist with chapter health and strategic planning.

We have also continued to increase resources available to members by adding the NACE Bites monthly newsletter, “What’s Trending at NACE” content round-up, and providing online education such as the monthly hangouts, which provide educational contact hours for CPCE and CMP certifications. The NACE Blog, Resource Library, and Inspiration Gallery are available to you as members.

NACE held successful conferences in 2019, including the NACE Evolve Conference in San Antonio and the NACE Experience Conference in Cincinnati. Both were well attended, provided valuable education, and encouraged priceless networking among members and non-members alike. We had growth in our Awards program, and we look forward to offering more awards to make our community even more inclusive.

Our partnership with the Foundation of NACE continues to prosper. Both NACE and the Foundation want to provide opportunities for education in the forms of speakers, certification , scholarships to attend conference, and a speaker bureau for chapters use. We look forward to seeing all these initiatives come to fruition as our two organizations become even more aligned.

Those of you who attended Evolve and Experience have listened to speakers sponsored by the Foundation. There will be more to come as we continue to collaborate! Thank you to the Foundation board: Zena, Harvey, Gary, Dave, and the Trustees – for your valuable input, partnership, and help in enriching our membership.

I’m also thankful for my fellow board members: Doug, Morgan, James, Amber, Lisa, Donnell, and in-coming board member, Karen. I’m grateful to these individuals for staying aligned with our key initiatives of our Strategic Plan when making decisions.

  • Goal 1: Essential Resource
  • Goal 2: Strong Vibrant Community
  • Goal 3: Strategic, Aligned Transparent Organization.

Our CLC continues to be the first line of contact for our chapters. I am thankful for Lisa, Karen, Sarah, Gil, Dawn, Justen, and Nicole for the support they lend to our chapter leaders.

We have new chapters coming online in early 2020: Maine, Miami, and a re-launch in New York. Thank you to the chapter pioneers for the hard work they have been doing to launch these chapters and engage more attendees. Stay tuned for more exciting news to follow on these.

I am also thankful for all our NACE Chapter Leaders. Thank you for all the work that you do! I hope you agree that being involved with NACE enriches your life and adds to your knowledge.

Our CPCE certification program has reached an all-time high of over 300 CPCEs, and we expect this number to continue to grow with CPCE Fast Track Live courses now offered by our local chapters.

Lastly, and on a more personal note, I’m thankful for my fellow Orlando NACE members, to whom I will be reaching out to for help with my daughter Emma’s wedding, scheduled in November 2020 at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in downtown Orlando. I look forward to highlighting Orlando NACE members and the Grand Bohemian during one of the most important times in our lives.

I hope you all have a fantastic November.

Sincerely,

Ed
