Notable Tech Apps for your Business

For many of us working in the wedding and events industry, we live and breathe our calendars, email inboxes, checklists, and the like – every hour of the day is spoken for and organization is a must. Oftentimes, I find myself looking for a 25th hour in the day or an extra Sunday during the week, but to no avail. With that said, my experiences have led me to discover some handy tech apps that save me both time and energy on a daily basis and have become an invaluable part of my workflow.

With that, let’s take a look at some of my favorites:


Not everyone can be as well-versed as Shakespeare, so sometimes we need a little extra help when it comes to grammar and spelling. Grammarly is an easy-to-install plugin that will review any text you put into the browser and suggest revisions to improve your writing. Gone are the days of having to remember if it’s ‘there,’ ‘their’ or ‘they’re’ or what a comma splice is and how to avoid it (I still don’t know!). Grammarly is there to take the headache away.


This app is about to make scheduling out your days and weeks so much easier. This self-booking appointment system allows clients and colleagues to book their own appointment with you based on your availability. To make it even more streamlined, they can even pay online as needed. As soon as an appointment is booked, you’ll receive an e-mail telling you when and where – it’s that easy!


When it comes to the world of marketing, graphics reign supreme. If you’re looking to up your design game in the next newsletter, e-mail blast or social media, Canva is a great tool to have in your back pocket if you can’t afford to have a professional graphics designer on staff. This free website allows you to create nearly any type of graphic you can think of. With access to hundreds of fonts, stock photos, illustrations, collage templates, border designs and so much more, the possibilities are virtually endless.

Black Pearl

As business professionals, having a great email signature for clients and potential clients is an easy advertisement and a great way to add in a call to action. Black Pearl offers custom branded signatures that are consistent on all platforms, from desktops to phones to tablets. My favorite feature, in particular, is the open rate. You’ll be notified when important emails have read and reminded when you should follow up.

When I Work

This is the perfect app for any small business owner that is juggling employee schedules. With When I Work, you can block out shifts for each person, along with the freedom to allow them to clock in and out at any time and from any location. In the events industry, keeping track of offsite employee hours can be time consuming, but this tool will save you time and sanity!

There are a million apps out there that can help streamline any business and these are just a few of my favorites to keep in mind. Get online and stay open to trying some of these programs – trust me, you won’t regret it.
