NACE Announces Hall of Fame and Partner of the Year Award Recipients

Greg Casella, CPCE and StaffMate Online to Receive Top Board Honors

June 28, Columbia MD — The board of directors of the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) today announced the recipients NACE’s Hall of Fame and Partner of the Year Awards. These awards are two of NACE’s top honors and are conferred directly by the board of directors.

NACE Hall of Fame

Greg Casella, CPCE, founder and owner of Catered Too in San Jose, California was selected for induction into the NACE Hall of Fame. In selecting Casella, the NACE board cited Casella’s leadership in the catering and events industry, his significant contributions to NACE and his contribution to community and civic organizations.

Casella’s leadership in the catering and events industry began in 1992 with the founding of Catered Too, specializing in corporate special events. The company soon became the preferred caterer of many Silicon Valley companies.  Now with more than 70 full-time staff, Catered Too holds exclusive and preferred food and beverage caterer status at three venues in Silicon Valley.  In addition, it provides daily food programs for local businesses and operates four cafes. Catered Too’s special events capabilities continue to grow and produce events for up to 20,000 guests.

A member of NACE since 1994, Casella has held numerous leadership positions at the chapter and national level, including President of the Silicon Valley chapter. As a national leader Casella created a focus on the larger hospitality industry, focusing NACE’s efforts outside of itself and broadening its engagement and influence within the events industry. His focus on professionalism lead to the creation of NACE’s first code of ethics, updates to the CPCE body of knowledge and professional competency standards, enhancement of leadership training efforts and advancing the strategic orientation of the national board.

Greg Casella is also a recognized civic leader in Silicon Valley, helping found the Preservation Action Council of San Jose. He has served as a board member of the San Jose Downtown Association, the Jesuit Retreat Center and as a trustee at the San Jose Downtown Foundation.  He is also committed to giving back to the community through Catered Too by offering resources and support—whether it be helping build a local children’s playground and working with a community farm for a farm-to-table experience to sponsoring aspiring young artists and donating events for LGBT youth programs.

In announcing the selection, NACE President Ed DiAntonio, CPCE, CMP stated that “Greg’s accomplishments and commitment are truly remarkable and are examples for us all to aspire to. His passion for and dedication for his business, his industry and his community are truly inspiring. His induction into the NACE Hall of Fame is richly deserved and marks a powerful legacy that continues to grow.”
