Everything You Need To Know About Cincinnati For #NACEEXP19

The 2019 NACE Experience Conference is right around the corner! We want you to be ready to join us in the Queen City! So, let’s talk about everything you need to know for your trip to Cincinnati this July!

Where to Stay

The host hotel Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza is a 4 Star Historic Hotel in the heart of downtown Cincinnati. It’s a National Historic Landmark revived and restored from its Art Deco 1930’s days of glory. It houses one of the area’s most glorious event venues, The Hall of Mirrors. The hotel bar and indoor restaurant will prove to be a fabulous area for networking and deepening your connections. The cozy nature of this hotel will ensure maximum engagement with all attendees.  If you’re looking for an immersive conference experience you’ll want to choose the Netherland Plaza!

What to Wear

Ohio is known to have the most unpredictable weather. During your stay you may experience rain, chilly mornings or evenings, and warm sunny (and sometimes humid) day time weather! So… layer up! You may need a light jacket or sweater in the conference room and for your evening stroll! You may also want to throw an umbrella in your luggage too. We’ll do our best to keep the rain at bay but around here… you just never know!

A conference in downtown means you may very well wish to take an afternoon stroll to Fountain Square or take in the city streets. The conference hotel doesn’t require comfortable shoes but you may want flats and comfortable shoes for enjoying the city.

Fashion in Cincinnati can be described as laid back with a stylish vibe. So don’t be afraid to spice it up a little for an evening out on the town. Show your unique style!

Transportation

If you’re driving to Cincinnati for #NACEEXP19 you’ll easily be able to come in and out of parking garages or valet parking at your hotel. If you plan to take in any of the sites, museums, or dining experiences you’ll be able to easily maneuver in the city by car. You’ll experience typical city back-ups during the busy hours but negotiating the drive should be fairly easy! Use the Waze app for navigating!

In the heart of downtown, it’ll be easiest to walk to nearby destinations. The city is safe and inviting at most hours. The downtown area is highly corporate and you’ll find locals going about their day.

If you’ll be without a car and would like to venture beyond walking distance, Uber is always a great option and you’ll find it convenient and affordable.

For a more recent experience hop on the new Cincinnati Street Car from Fountain Square to reach many of the popular locations in Cincinnati.

Where to Eat

When catering and event professionals from around the world arrive in Cincinnati, the pressure is high to provide amazing culinary experiences. You’ll love the evening events and the gala but where should you go to have an enjoyable dining experience or take in the local food of Cincinnati?

You’ll be glad to hear that Cincinnati has a rich culinary community. From tasting your way through the stalls at Findlay Market to the fine dining experience at Boca, there’s something for every taste and sensibility.

For those with a more refined taste, you won’t have to go far. Located inside our host hotel, Orchids at Palm Court is full of rich French Art Deco design and even richer menu options. Ohio’s only AAA 5 Diamond Restaurant is also the reason the hotel has been named Hilton’s #1 USA Food and Beverage hotel for multiple years. Choose from multi-course meals and wine pairings, or select any of the menu’s exquisite appetizer and entrée options. While you visit, take notice of the ceiling murals and rosewood paneling throughout.

Close by, you may also consider Boca. The highly-rated Boca welcomes you into a space of contemporary European and American style. The menu changes regularly so you’ll always be greeted by new, exciting tastes like oysters, gnocchi, branzino, and beef tenderloin.

For those looking to experience local flavors, you won’t want to miss these Cincinnati favorites.

Cincinnati Chili – Cincinnati Chili has Greek influences which give it a unique flavor and consistency. Different from other favorite chili recipes, it relies on ground meat, tomato paste, and a wide variety of spices, like cumin, cinnamon, all spice, and even cocoa (yes, cocoa).

Graeter’s Ice Cream – A local favorite, Graeter’s uses the French Pot Process for cultivating their flavors. Fresh local dairy and fruit combined with high-quality ingredients renders 2 ½ gallon batches individually frozen in French Pots. The ice cream is then served for immediate enjoyment or hand packed into containers for on the go. This thick and flavorful ice cream is a local must try!

Goetta (rhymes with feta) – A meat and grain sausage of German inspiration are found in many of Cincinnati’s favorite foods. You may see it offered for breakfast, on a burger, under your eggs, or served as a side. Cincinnatians love Goetta so much there’s a festival and a street named after it!

Montgomery Inn – Famous for its barbecue sauce and ribs, this may be on your list of popular restaurant experiences as well.

What To Do

You’ll never run out of exciting things to do in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati holds a world-class zoo and botanical garden. Walk the halls of the Cincinnati Art Museum. Take in a Reds game at the Great American Ballpark. Or experience the all-encompassing Newport Aquarium.

If you’re looking for more unique and off the beaten path sites check out the American Sign Museum or visit The Purple People Bridge. You might also enjoy walking through the Riverfront Park on a cool evening.

You’re going to love Cincinnati! The Cincinnati NACE Chapter is excited to welcome you. I’ll be excited to meet you and welcome you to Cincinnati this July!
