Message From Ed

As the calendar year comes to a close, I like to look back and reflect on what I am thankful for in 2018. I have been extremely busy at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. October is always the busiest month we have, so November and December allow us time to revitalize and get ready for the beginning of the new year. I am grateful for the breather and the chance to get my professional “house” back in order.

Personally, I’m thankful to have a family in good health and two grown children who are happy and industrious. My mother, 92 years old, will soon be arriving from Pennsylvania for her annual Christmas visit with us.

I am looking forward once again to shopping, eating too much, visiting St. Augustine and Epcot, seeing the lights and attending holiday events.

From my perspective as NACE president, I am grateful for our conscientious NACE board, The Foundation of NACE Board, our amazing NACE staff, and all our leaders, volunteers, and members across the country.

We have truly made some great strides in the last couple of years! The strategic plan to align National with all the chapters will support NACE’s increasing growth and has also increased value for our membership.

NACE is a
member-driven organization, and the initiatives that we are implementing are structured to benefit both the members and the leaders.

Proposed changes and enhancements for the chapters themselves include:

  • Complimentary officer’s Insurance continued in 2019 for the local chapter boards.
  • Frequent visits from the National Board and staff to communicate, support, and offer chapter coaching as needed
More support for all of us as members, including resources and information:
  • E-Newsletter, containing NACE News as well as need-to-know industry information
  • Frequent Virtual Hangouts with great speakers
  • Access to the NACE Career Center where members can post a free 5-day listing

I’m also very grateful for many exciting things in 2019:

We will be launching our new website soon, and continuing to revise
The Professional Reference Guide for the Catering and Event Industry.

I’m also thrilled to announce The Foundation of NACE is partnering to offer speaker content for Evolve and Experience Conferences as well as for local chapters. The Foundation will also be offering more scholarships for members and chapters to offer specialized education.

The continued progress in aligning our two organizations will grow benefits to NACE members and chapters.

The NACE National Board, Foundation of NACE Board, and NACE staff have so much more we would like to accomplish. We look forward to continuing to strive and thrive together toward a bright and promising future.

Thank you so much for your commitments to our industry, our association and to each other.

I Hope to see and speak with many of our leaders in San Antonio, Texas during Evolve and even more of you in Cincinnati, Ohio during Experience.

Have a great holiday with those you love, because that’s truly what it’s all about.
