An Important Update on Experience

Dear NACE Members,

NACE Experience is widely known as one of the best, most exciting and inspiring conferences for catering and events professionals. As people who care passionately about live events, the National Board and I wanted nothing more than to hold the event this August at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. However, the board has decided that the time is not right as originally scheduled, and we have postponed Experience.

I know some of you may be wondering why we’ve waited this long to make an announcement. We have reached this difficult decision after careful reflection and examination of the current situation. We’ve received input from many stakeholders, including members, chapter leaders, sponsors, vendors and more. We’ve considered meeting guidelines, travel limitations and air travel sanitation protocols. We’ve surveyed past attendees. We’ve considered how the current economic situation would alter the conference. After carefully weighing all this information, the board decided unanimously that postponement is the right thing to do.

But, at the same time that I share this disappointing news, I am thrilled to announce that Experience will be held August 1-4, 2021 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. I look forward to seeing you there, when we are well on the road to recovery, for real friends, real ideas, real solutions, real collaboration, and real dreams.

I know some of you may have questions, so please read on for a FAQ designed to answer many of them. If you need additional information, please contact the National Staff at conference@nace.net or use the live chat feature at www.nace.net.

Sincerely,
Doug Quattrini, CPCE, National President

FAQs

Will there be a virtual Experience?
As live events specialists, NACE members know that Experience is unique, built on the power and magic of in-person connections and the vibrant passion of the NACE community. Experience is about gathering, meeting, learning and celebrating face-to-face with our peers, together as a community. The National Board has decided that we will not attempt to re-create what Experience means to the community by trying to adapt it to a virtual event.

We’ll continue to provide the exceptional educational content we’re known for through the Explore 2020 virtual series. This virtual content will be available throughout the year as live and recorded sessions.

What happens to my registration?
Since we’re postponing Experience to a later date, if you’re already registered, you’re all set! Cancellation refunds will still be available if you change your mind.

How should I handle my hotel reservation?
So that you can plan your travel for the rescheduled Experience, the Bellagio will automatically cancel your existing reservation and refund any deposit. You will be provided with rebooking instructions in the coming weeks. If you made your hotel reservation outside the NACE housing block, you need to contact that hotel directly to cancel your reservation.

How will the NACE One Awards be presented?
We’re still working out these details and are looking at options that would allow us to recognize and celebrate our winners in style!

Will there be a CLC meeting?
Yes, we plan to hold a virtual CLC meeting to conduct business and provide roundtable and networking.

Will NACE hold an annual meeting of the members/town hall as required by bylaws?
Yes, as a virtual meeting. More information on the date and the process for registering will be made available at a later date. The Foundation of NACE will also provide an update during this meeting.

How will elections be handled?
Elections will be handled by paper ballot, mailed to delegates. More details will be made available at a later date. Chapters will still need to have their delegate lists submitted to the national office by June 15 and must also provide a residential mailing address for each delegate.

How will speakers be selected for the rescheduled conference?
To make sure we are offering the most current and timely content, NACE will offer another Call for Speakers later this year, so please watch for future announcements.
