A Recap of 2019

Dear Fellow NACE Members,

On behalf of myself and the NACE National Board, I want to thank you for your support and guidance throughout the year. The feedback that we receive helps us develop the direction of the organization. Below is a recap of this past year.

  1. Chapter Resources
Since our Strategic Plan was put into place three years ago, the NACE staff and board have worked to create resources for Chapter Leaders. Those of you who have attended a NACE Evolve Conference completed training beneficial for you on the chapter level, and for personal development, providing you with leadership skills that will serve you throughout your career.
  2. Chapter Visits
The NACE board is now on a chapter visit rotation, allowing members direct access to the board. The feedback we hear aids in our ongoing development of cutting-edge programs and events. We aim to get to know our membership and help you grow and thrive in your jobs and in your chapters.
  3. NACE Professional Reference Guide
Thank you to our board, committee members, staff, and the many contributing NACE members who are working hard on the new reference guide. Writing a document like this is a huge task and very time-consuming. The updated manual will be rolled out in 2020 and will provide professionals with the most up-to-date standards and information. I can’t thank all the contributors enough for putting this together.
  4. NACE Education
We have been able to elevate our educational offerings and are excited for the record number of speaker submissions we have received for the 2020 NACE Experience Conference. The Education Committee has the honor of choosing the educational line-up for the conference in Las Vegas. We have also been offering webinars with valuable content, and our online attendance is growing. Thank you to NACE thought-leaders who have led these webinars for our members’ benefit.
  5. Foundation of NACE Partnership
We have continued to strengthen our partnership with the Foundation of NACE for the benefit of the NACE community. The Foundation has provided easier access to education through various channels at the chapter level, Experience, Evolve, and through financial scholarships to students and members. I’m excited to see what new opportunities the Foundation offers in the coming years.

Our staff, led by Executive Director Lawrence Leonard, CAE, CMP, is keeping a very keen eye on where the industry is headed and the needs of chapters and our members. I know we are headed in the right direction and I wish to thank our entire membership, staff, past leaders and our board for their input and hard work to help direct NACE to where we are and, more importantly, into the future.

As my term as the NACE National President comes to an end, I know we are in a very good place. I look forward to continuing to support the growth of our community, continuing to enjoy the benefits of NACE that have enriched my professional experiences through the years and, especially, continuing the friendships that I have made because of NACE.

I hope you all enjoy your holiday season, spending time with family and friends, and getting ready to kick-off a new decade!
