The Foundation of NACE – Enhancing education and learning for NACE members.

Dear Chapter Leaders,
This summer, the Foundation of NACE kicked off its first annual I’m In campaign and it was received with enthusiasm and generated much interest in the Foundation. Thanks to all of you and your chapter members who contributed to the success of that program! To build on that momentum, the trustees of the Foundation are pleased to offer an education program to all chapters. Members of the Board are now available to speak at local chapter meetings to educate members about the Foundation and its important mission. This will include a multimedia presentation explaining the history and importance of the Foundation. It will not only inform your chapter, but will also encourage participation in the 2010 I’m In campaign. We want to continue to build on our successes and ensure the continued funding of our efforts by spreading the word of our initiatives and the importance of continued support. Our major objectives are the same as Vince DeFinis, CPCE, a founder of the National Association of Catering Executives, including:· Ensuring that people who work in catering and events are regarded as true professionals· Encouraging young people to pursue careers in the catering and events field· Reaching out to groom a new generation of leadersWith these ideals in mind, in 2008, the board of trustees established the annual Vincent DeFinis Scholarship. In 2010, the Foundation will award two (2) scholarships valued at $10,000. As future industry leaders, these recipients act not only as spokespersons for our association and industry, but as mentors and resources to our membership and leadership.Additionally the Foundation supports the catering and events industry by sponsoring keynote speakers at the annual conference and by supporting the CPCE certification process. We also are working to support industry research to support industry needs and initiatives.Scheduling a trustee member to speak at your chapter meeting is very easy. Simply contact Kris Schneider at NACE Headquarters, kschneider@nacenet.org, or call 410.290.5410. She will be sure to find a trustee member to fit your needs. To that end, I urge you to contact one of the following members of the Foundation Board, who is in your area, to schedule a presentation at one of your chapter meetings. I trust that together we will build a strong Foundation that will significantly contribute to our members, our industry and our profession. Please follow the links below for more information:
